Our hearing assessments look at more than whether you can hear a beep. We examine your ears, test different parts of your hearing system and clearly explain what the results mean.
A comprehensive hearing test costs £50, which is credited against hearing aids purchased from Wigan Hearing.
Independent Hearing-Aid Advice
Modern hearing aids are smaller, clearer and more capable than ever, but the right fitting and ongoing support are just as important as the technology.
We work with all major hearing-aid manufacturers, allowing us to recommend devices that genuinely suit you rather than pushing one particular brand. Our hearing aids include professional fitting, real-ear measurements, ongoing aftercare and a five-year warranty.
Professional Ear Wax Removal
Blocked ears can cause muffled hearing, pressure, discomfort and problems with hearing aids.
Our HCPC-registered audiologists provide ear wax removal using microsuction, irrigation or manual removal, depending on what is most suitable for your ears.
Appointments cost £40 for one ear or £60 for both ears, with same-day and next-day availability often possible.

Meet Your Audiologist
I’m Darren Glancey, founder and lead audiologist at Wigan Hearing.
I opened the clinic in 2018 to provide the kind of hearing care I believe people deserve: thorough testing, straightforward explanations and long-term support from someone they know.
Before establishing Wigan Hearing, I worked in technical and professional-support roles for leading hearing-aid manufacturers, including Phonak and Unitron. That experience gave me an in-depth understanding of hearing-aid technology, troubleshooting and the difference that careful programming can make.
Today, Michelle and I run Wigan Hearing as a local family business. We live in Standish and are proud to look after people from our own community and the wider Wigan area.
More Than a Quick Hearing Check
Accurate results are the starting point for good hearing care.
Depending on your needs, your assessment may include video otoscopy, air and bone-conduction testing, speech testing, tympanometry and other diagnostic measurements. When hearing aids are fitted, we use real-ear measurements to check that they are providing the correct level of amplification for your individual hearing loss.
We also provide tinnitus assessments and support, 3D ear scanning, custom noise protection, swim plugs and specialist ear products.
