Choosing Features That Work for You
We will help you compare suitable hearing aids and explain which features fit your day-to-day needs. Depending on the model, options may include:
- Speech and noise settings: Features designed to support listening in different environments.
- Directional microphones: Technology that helps focus on sound from a particular direction.
- Phone and TV connectivity: Streaming with compatible phones, televisions or accessories.
- Rechargeable batteries: An alternative to replacing disposable batteries.
Features, compatibility and battery life vary between models. We will explain these before you choose.
Why Hearing Aids Matter
Hearing loss can make conversations, television and social situations more tiring. Properly selected and fitted hearing aids can improve speech understanding, reduce listening effort and help you stay connected with family, friends and everyday life.
Which Hearing Aid Style Is Right for You?
- Behind-the-Ear (BTE): These sit comfortably behind your ear, delivering amplified sound through a tube to an earmould or dome inside your ear canal.
- Receiver-in-Canal (RIC): These sit behind the ear but are typically smaller and more discreet, with a speaker positioned in the ear canal.
- In-the-Ear (ITE): Custom-made to fit your ear, these sit within the bowl of the ear and provide a discreet yet powerful option.
- Completely-in-Canal (CIC): Small and discreet hearing aids designed to fit deeper within the ear canal.
- Invisible-in-Canal (IIC): Ultra-discreet hearing aids positioned deep inside the ear canal.
