LACE AI Pro: Auditory Training Alongside Hearing Aids

LACE AI Pro: Auditory Training at Wigan Hearing

Hearing aids are only part of hearing rehabilitation

When hearing aids make speech louder and more accessible, the brain still has to recognise words, follow conversation and cope with competing sound. That can take practice, particularly after a long period of untreated hearing loss.

At Wigan Hearing, we use LACE AI Pro as an additional auditory-training option alongside appropriate hearing-aid care.

What is LACE AI Pro?

LACE stands for Listening and Communication Enhancement. The programme offers structured listening exercises designed to provide practice in areas such as speech in background noise, faster speech and listening attention. The exercises can be completed away from the clinic on a compatible device.

People differ in how they respond to auditory training. Some report improved confidence or listening skills, while research has shown mixed results across studies. The programme should not be sold as a guaranteed way to eliminate listening difficulties or restore normal hearing.

Who might find it useful?

Auditory training may be worth discussing if you wear hearing aids but still find some listening situations particularly demanding, or if you want structured practice as part of rehabilitation. We will discuss whether your hearing aids, earpieces and fitting have been appropriately assessed first.

How we include it in care

Wigan Hearing is an independent LACE AI Pro provider. Access to the programme is included with our hearing-aid packages, and we can explain how the exercises work and what support is available. A patient’s priorities and ability to use the programme should guide the recommendation.

We are also a Diamond provider of LACE AI Pro. That describes our provider relationship, not a promise of any particular clinical result.

Is auditory training the same as treatment for tinnitus?

No. Neurotone’s LACE Pro auditory-training programme and its Tinnitus Pro programme are distinct products. Tinnitus Pro is aimed at tinnitus-related management and has different features. Having access to LACE AI Pro does not automatically mean that you have access to Tinnitus Pro.

Our tinnitus guide covers the evidence for hearing aids and tinnitus-focused CBT, while the app comparison explains the difference between the two Neurotone programmes.

What else matters?

A structured hearing assessment, appropriate hearing-aid selection, a comfortable fit and follow-up remain central to rehabilitation. Read about real-ear verification and our fitting process.
